Emotions ran high after Bush stole the 2000 election. On Inauguration Day 2001, the largest number of protesters since the Nixon era came to Washington, D.C. and staged a counter-Inaugural, vowing to resist the fraudulent Bush Administration. It was only after 9/11 that the country was shocked into forgetting about the fact that George W. Bush's presidency was illegitimate from the start.
