Emotions ran high after Bush stole the 2000 election. On Inauguration Day 2001, the largest number of protesters since the Nixon era came to Washington, D.C. and staged a counter-Inaugural, vowing to resist the fraudulent Bush Administration. It was only after 9/11 that the country was shocked into forgetting about the fact that George W. Bush's presidency was illegitimate from the start. The following are some of the slogans heard chanted in the streets on that cold and mournful day:
